The Small Church & the Crosses

When the reformation movement gathered momentum, the Small Church was built, just opposite the main Church, right across the main road (on 8-day Fast days and Sunday there is Holy Mass in the morning at the Small Church). Adjacent that time onwards, all funeral ceremonies are conducted at the Small Church.

Eight kilometers east of Kottayam town, on K.K.Road, at Manarcad Junction, was set up a Cross of the Church. The Church and all Church establishments are only 11/2 km. north of this cross. There is yet another cross set up half a kilometer west of the Churchyard, at Kottayam.

Prayers & Religious Ceremonies

The deeply religious and very colourful Rasa procession carrying thousands of ornamental umbrellas and several gold/silver crosses on the sixth day of the 8-day Fast takes a route around these crosses and the Small Church.

Pilgrims' Quarters

The building constructed during 1976 at the northern side of the church has the facilities to provide shelter to the pilgrims who arrive here from far away place to attend the services and cermonies in the churchPallimeda (Office complex) built in 1934, Manimalika in 1972, two parish halls constructed in 1973 and 1990 are the other buildings at church compound.

Manganam Chappel

In 1985,the Manganam Chappel was built 7 kms away from the Church for the benefit of 60 families. The Holy Communion, religious ceremonies and social activities were conducted in alla Sundays under teh guidance of St.Mary’s Church priests.

Ponds

There are two ponds available in the Church Premises for and men and women separately.These are being used to cleansing the body of the devotees.One which is situated in the West is being used by male devotees and the northern pond is being used by women devotees.
